The Fool Meets The Hierophant

So the Fool follows the instructions of his archetypal father and steps out into the world.

The Hierophant begins speaking by grandiosely introducing himself.

Back in the days of ancient Greece, secret rites to the goddess Demeter were held, and they were called the Eleusinian Mysteries. For those participating, they had to take a vow of silence, which is why we don’t know too much about them. White Witch Grimoire

The people who led these rites were called hierophants: hiera (holy) and phainein (show). Why show? Because they would show sacred objects. Objects that were full of mysteries.

So why do we have a guy who looks like a Catholic leader, but bears the name of an ancient Greek priest?

Seems odd, unless you make the connection between someone who teaches religion! What sets the Hierophant apart is that he can teach any and all religions. He is higher knowledge.

This card represents anyone with knowledge to be shared.

The Fool will learn much from this man with the odd hat. The Hierophant is going to show him some secrets! But what is he going to show you?? 👀
